I've been a flight attendant for 24 years and I had a man ask me if I remembered him. I said I was sorry, he didn't look familiar as I see hundreds of people in a day. He told me he had lost more than 150 lbs over the last few years and that I had been working a flight he was on before he lost the weight. He said "I remember you because you treated me with respect and your co-workers definitely DID NOT". You never know who's going to come back around.
I find people with petty gripes are often the loudest, people who truly have a reason to be upset remain quiet. I am always ready to advocate for anyone dealing with this kind of bullshit. There's no reason to put up with someone being hostile in a shared space, so good for you for shutting it down. Have the kind of day you deserve, INDEED.
the highest grade you can get as human is - I made a change - I am not a waste of protein, space and air - I exist … congratulations to the human award :)
Love youuu. The flight attendant (who was also really petty towards the woman, but that's a story for a different day) made the world seem a lot more beautiful!
I loathe flying. I too am small fat. I took Amtrak Chicago to DC…not a pleasant experience for 18+ hours (different set of issues). I bought a one way return ticket on United or American. Aisle seat. I’m 5’8” and moderately overweight. Getting into and out of the seat was like a puzzle. It was impossible to put the tray table down. SMH. The saving grace? It was only a few hours, not the 18+.
I flew again last summer, but this time Chicago-LA-Auckland-Melbourne and I paid (through the nose) for premium economy. That was physically much more comfortable. But very expensive.

You really gave this woman so much more grace than she deserved.... proud of u
A good definition of Grace is that “it is the opposite of what we deserve.” Think : the way the returning Prodigal is treated by his earthly father.
You rule!!!!
I hope you have the day you deserve. Perfect!
I’m straight sized and I flew on two Southwest airplanes a couple of weeks ago.
The seats were very uncomfortable and the space between rows was almost non-existent. I got off the flight home very sore.
Not great marketing if you ask me.
KATE. Icon. Hero. Love you! And gold star to the flight attendant for having your back.
I will tell you off line some of the petty things she did. Truly INCREDIBLE
Yes PLEASE
I am so proud of you for advocating for yourself! I hate that this happened to you but I was glad to read the flight attendant was supportive.
Kate, you handled that like a boss!! I would like to be friends with you and that lovely attendant. Good on you, sis!
Thank you 🔥
I’m so glad to hear one of these stories but not the ones you mentioned. I’m so glad sometimes people get support!
Damn. Good for you. That must have been so hard. Way to use whatever privilege you have! I hope to be that brave if I’m ever in that situation.
Huzzah! You're my hero ine!!
First of all, the middle seat gets the arm rests. 😜 Good for you! I haven’t been in your situation but I’m ready thanks to you.
Way to go, standing up for yourself.
And when people stand up for themselves other people realize they can do the same.
Thank you!
You are strong, clear-sighted, and beautiful in a shitty shitty world. Love you.

You know your value and what you deserve - and you advocated for yourself. Bravo!
I am sorry that some people are shitty. And thankful for the flight attendant. ♥️
